SkaSports and Angkor Tiger Partner to Build Football Stadium in Cambodia.

A new football stadium with an Indian connection has opened in Siem Reap, Cambodia, famous for its UNESCO World Heritage site, Angkor Wat. SkaSports Investments Private Limited, an Indian-owned sports business, has partnered with Angkor Tiger Football Club, a Cambodian Premier League team, to build the privately-owned, football-specific stadium with floodlights.

R Rohit, Director of SkaSports, shared that the project has been in the works for the past year, with phase one of construction now complete. "We are thrilled to have completed the first phase and played our inaugural game on November 9 at Siem Reap," Rohit said. "This stadium is a significant boost to the football ecosystem, providing a dedicated space for both our senior and youth teams."

The stadium aims to foster football development in Cambodia, with plans to collaborate with the Cambodian Football Association and Premier League on educational courses. "It is important to explore new revenue opportunities such as stadium naming rights and stand naming rights. Owning facilities gives teams the ability to generate income during non-competition periods," added Rohit.

The stadium, covering over three hectares of land, currently has a seating capacity of 2,000. The installation of 1,500 lux floodlights has been completed, and the total cost of Phase 1 construction is $2 million (₹16.5 crore). The ongoing Phase 2 expansion will increase capacity and add roofing for seated areas. Additionally, the stadium is the first in Cambodia to feature dedicated indoor warm-up areas in the team dressing rooms, in line with the Asian Football Confederation's best practices.

Sudhir Menon, Director of SkaSports, highlighted the future growth plans for the stadium, noting that the club owns 7 hectares of land. "We are looking into expanding the stadium and exploring commercial developments around the property, including a nearby 100-villa development," said Menon.

This collaboration not only marks a milestone in Cambodia’s football infrastructure but also opens the door for future commercial opportunities in the region.
