Strong Developer Interest in NHAI’s Capital Ring Road Tender.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has received extensive participation from bidders for the proposed 111-km, six-lane greenfield Capital Region Ring Road project. According to officials, bids were invited in three packages, with Package I receiving 23 bids, Package II 25, and Package III 16.

Approved by the Union Cabinet, the project will develop a 111-km ring road connecting Rameshwar to Tangi under the hybrid annuity mode, with an estimated capital cost of ₹8,307 crore. NHAI said that around 96% of land acquisition has been completed, along with necessary forest, wildlife, and environmental clearances.

Officials said tenders are expected to be finalised by March, with construction starting immediately thereafter. The project has a planned completion period of two and a half years.

The new corridor is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion, particularly on NH-16, which currently passes through the city. An official statement from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said the ring road aims to "decongest Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Khurda, improve regional connectivity and mobility, reduce logistics costs, generate employment, and support economic growth through safer and faster travel."
