Tamil Nadu to house largest Asian blood bank

Chennai: Asia's largest blood bank will be set up at Chennai and will store more than 2 lakh units of blood with additional facility for extracting protein from blood plasma.

The unit will be established with an investment of Rs Rs 400 crore. The 65,000-sq ft blood bank will come up adjacent to the Government General Hospital on a 10-acre of land belonging to the health department.
