Tata Power has entered into a $4.25 billion funding arrangement with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to finance a range of clean energy projects. The agreement, announced during the Climate Conference in Baku, Azerbaijan, aims to accelerate India’s energy transition and decarbonization efforts.
The funding will support key initiatives, including a 966 MW solar-wind hybrid project, a pumped hydro storage project, and other ventures focused on renewable energy, battery storage, and distribution network upgrades. These projects align with India’s ambitious clean energy targets, which emphasize energy security and environmental sustainability.
“This collaboration with ADB is a significant step in driving transformative power sector projects,” said Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD of Tata Power. “It underscores our commitment to enhancing India’s renewable energy capacity and modernizing power infrastructure for sustainable growth.”
ADB’s Director General for Private Sector Operations, Suzanne Gaboury, emphasized the shared vision behind the partnership. “Our engagement with Tata Power supports India’s transition toward low-carbon, inclusive, and climate-resilient energy solutions,” she said.
The partnership also incorporates initiatives to promote inclusivity and gender equality by empowering women through access to green jobs and participation in deploying renewable technologies.
Tata Power and ADB’s joint efforts are expected to significantly enhance energy access and resilience in India while reducing the country’s environmental footprint and fostering sustainable progress.
