Tata Power to Acquire 40% Stake in SPV for Bhutan Hydropower Project.

Tata Power recently said it has signed commercial agreements with Druk Green Power Corporation (DGPC) to acquire a 40 per cent stake in a special purpose vehicle (SPV) for the 1,125 MW Dorjilung hydropower project in Bhutan. The investment, valued at ₹1,572 crore, will be made in phases according to the agreed structure.

With a total project cost of ₹13,100 crore, Dorjilung will become Bhutan’s second-largest hydropower project and the country’s biggest hydropower venture under a public-private partnership (PPP) model.

Tata Power’s equity infusion marks a significant step in strengthening cross-border clean-energy collaboration between India and Bhutan.
