Union Minister Nitin Gadkari initiates 29 highway projects totaling Rs. 4,000 crore in Punjab
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari launched and laid the foundation stones for 29 national highway projects valued at Rs. 4,000 crore in Punjab on Wednesday. The projects encompassed significant developments, including the Ladhowal bypass in Ludhiana, a six-lane flyover, a two-lane road overbridge in Ludhiana, the four-laning of the Jalandhar-Kapurthala section, and the construction of three bridges on the Jalandhar-Makhu road.
Among the projects initiated were the foundation stones for the four-laning of the Hoshiarpur-Phagwara road and the four-laning of the Ferozepur bypass. In his address to the gathering, Gadkari highlighted the government's commitment to building expressways, emphasizing the development of green expressways that facilitate reduced travel times between destinations.
The Minister for Road Transport and Highways outlined plans for the construction of five greenfield expressways and economic corridors, amounting to Rs 1.20 lakh crore, to enhance connectivity between Punjab, Delhi, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Haryana.
Gadkari also shared details about the ambitious 670 km greenfield expressway project, the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra expressway. Once completed, this expressway is expected to reduce travel time to Amritsar from Delhi to four hours and from Delhi to Katra to six hours.
Several dignitaries, including Union Minister and local MP Som Parkash, former MP Vijay Sampla, and Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar, were present at the event.
