Uttar Pradesh Plans ₹2,200 Crore Ghaziabad Redevelopment Project Featuring Stadium and Aerocity Projects.

Uttar Pradesh Plans ₹2,200 Crore Ghaziabad Redevelopment Project Featuring Stadium and Aerocity Projects.

The Uttar Pradesh government has drawn up a major redevelopment plan to transform Ghaziabad, positioning the city as a modern gateway to the state with a series of large-scale infrastructure and urban development projects.

The proposed ₹2,200-crore initiative includes the development of an international cricket stadium and an Aerocity project, aimed at boosting sports infrastructure and commercial activity in the region. The integrated development is also expected to feature an international convention centre, which is likely to become a key landmark for business and cultural events.

In addition, the plan includes a sports academy, smart residential complexes, green spaces, and outdoor sports facilities, creating a mixed-use urban hub designed for living, working, investment, and recreation.

According to Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) Vice-Chairman Nand Kishore Kalal, the project has been conceptualised to global standards and will be developed under a joint venture model with the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association, subject to approval by the GDA board. He noted that while the blueprint was originally prepared in 2014–15, the project had remained stalled for several years but has now been revived and prioritised under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Officials expect the project to have a significant economic multiplier effect, generating large-scale employment across construction, hospitality, retail, and services sectors. It is also expected to boost tourism, attract fresh investment, and strengthen the overall economy of Ghaziabad and the broader western Uttar Pradesh region.
