Water Released From Srisailam, NS Projects.

As per the interstate agreement between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, water from the Srisailam project was released at a discharge rate of 20,591 cusecs and from the Nagarjuna Sagar at 3,830 cusecs recently.

According to Krishna Delta Chief Engineer YS Sudhakar, as of today, water levels at Srisailam stand at 844.80 feet and in Nagarjuna Sagar at 509.40 feet.

In Prakasam barrage, water discharge levels stand at 1,583 cusecs and Godavari water is being released to Krishna river through Pattiseema at a discharge rate of 600 cusecs.

In a press release, Sudhakar said to save the kharif crop in Krishna delta, water at the discharge rate of 702 cusecs through Krishna Easter Branch canal, 203 cusecs through Eluru canal, 816 cusecs through Krishna Western Branch canal, 157 cusecs through Guntur Channel, that is, water at a total discharge rate of 1,878 cusecs is being released down to Krishna delta.

He said already measures for 24 hour power supply to borewells in the delta and to improve the groundwater level are in progress to save the standing crop in 8 lakh acres in the delta.

He said since interlinking of two major rivers Krishna and Godavari, a total 2 tmcft of water has been diverted from one river to the other.

He said by June 2016, Pattiseema project will be functioning at full capacity.
