Work begins at Ramjanmabhoomi temple site as per lockdown protocol.

With the state government allowing construction activity to resume during the lockdown, work on clearing up the site of Ram temple construction in Ayodhya has resumed.

According to members of Ramjanmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra trust, the metal barricades erected around the makeshift temple and the CRPF camp at the site have already been removed and levelling of the site has begun with the help of three JCBs, one crane, two tractors and 10 labourers.

Sources said that the site would soon be subjected to soil testing. The levelling work which resumed on May 11 saw emergence of large number of artefacts including idols of Hindu Gods and goddesses, flowers, seven pillars made out of black touch stones, six pillars of red sand stones and a five-foot minutely carved Shiva Ling. “The work has resumed after due permission from district authorities,” said VHP's international general secretary and member of the trust stressing that the work is likely to gain pace one the lockdown is totally lifted.
