“Work commences on High Court complex in Amaravati.”

Marking a key milestone in the development of the State capital, Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development P. Narayana recently launched the raft foundation works for the Andhra Pradesh High Court building in Amaravati.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Narayana said construction activities in Amaravati were progressing at a brisk pace. He announced that seven major buildings in the capital city would be developed as iconic structures, designed to meet global architectural standards.

The Minister said the High Court complex was being constructed based on a design prepared by internationally renowned architectural firm Norman Foster and Partners. “With this globally acclaimed design, we have commenced the construction of the High Court today,” he said.

Providing details of the project, Mr. Narayana said the High Court complex would be built over a total area of 21 lakh square feet and would accommodate 52 court halls. The court halls will be located on the second, fourth and sixth floors, while the Chief Justice’s court will be housed on the eighth floor.

Highlighting the scale of the project, he said around 45,000 tonnes of steel would be used in the construction, underscoring its structural strength and longevity. The government has set a target to complete the High Court building by the end of 2027.

Mr. Narayana also noted that progress on Amaravati’s development had suffered delays due to irregularities during the previous government’s tenure. He said the present government was committed to addressing those setbacks and accelerating the capital’s construction without further delay.
