Work on road project begins in Zabul province

Qalat: Work on a road construction project and a solar energy project funded by the Zabul Provincial Reconstruction Team started in the southern Zabul province.

The construction of a one-kilometer road started in the provincial capital Qalat while the solar energy project begun in Shajoi and Shar-e-Safa districts.
Gulab Shah Alikhel, spokesperson for the Zabul governor, said the road in front of the governor's house will be built in three months.

The funds for the project, $190,000, were provided by the Provincial Reconstruction Team. He said dozens of local residents were employed in the project.

At the same time, the solar energy-based road lights project was launched in the district centres of Shar-e-Safa and Shajoi.

The governor's spokesperson said lights will be installed along the roads in both towns to light the area during night.

The lights will automatically turn on when it gets dark and will turn off in mornings, he said.
Funds of some $10,000 were provided by the PRT for this project, said Alikhel.
