Agnikul Cosmos Launches Pioneering Large-Format 3D Printing Facility for Rocket Systems.

Space-tech start-up Agnikul Cosmos has commissioned a cutting-edge additive manufacturing facility dedicated to aerospace and rocket system production, marking a major milestone for India’s private space sector.

Designed as a fully integrated ecosystem, the new facility covers every stage of the manufacturing process — from design and simulation to 3D printing, post-processing, and final finishing. The company aims to reduce the cost of building rocket systems by up to 50% while enhancing supply chain resilience through in-house capabilities.

In a first for India, the facility is capable of 3D printing rocket and aerospace components up to one metre in height, allowing Agnikul to produce complex parts that were previously difficult to manufacture using additive methods. This breakthrough could accelerate innovation in launch vehicle development and streamline production timelines.

The site also features an indigenously developed de-powdering machine, a critical post-processing tool that ensures high-quality surface finishing and meets the stringent standards required for space-grade components.

“Quality, repeatability, and reliability are key for the space sector,” said Srinath Ravichandran, Co-founder and CEO of Agnikul Cosmos, in a statement to BusinessLine. “By creating the capability to build more components in-house, we’re bringing critical elements under our control. Many parts in a launch vehicle can be 3D printed — if the machines and capacity exist — and that’s what we’re solving for.”

The launch of this facility positions Agnikul at the forefront of India’s emerging private aerospace industry, offering new possibilities for faster, cost-effective, and scalable space missions.
