Andhra Pradesh Govt Prioritizes Timely Completion of ₹12,000 Crore Power Grid Projects.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand recently directed officials to accelerate the completion of over ₹12,000 crore worth of power transmission projects. The ambitious initiative aims to significantly strengthen the state's power grid, ensuring a reliable and uninterrupted electricity supply for all consumers.

The Transmission Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (APTRANSCO) is spearheading these extensive projects as part of its ongoing efforts to fortify the transmission network. This includes seven already commissioned works valued at over ₹155 crore, and 62 ongoing projects nearing ₹8,000 crore. Additionally, five newly awarded projects worth approximately ₹363 crore and 31 upcoming works estimated at around ₹3,500 crore are also in various stages of execution.

"To strengthen the power transmission network in order to meet the rising electricity demand and ensure reliable and uninterrupted power supply to all categories of consumers, APTRANSCO is undertaking transmission projects worth over ₹12,000 crore," Vijayanand stated in an official release. He stressed the importance of focusing on critical works to guarantee consistent and high-quality power across the southern state.

During a review meeting, the Chief Secretary assessed the progress of projects in the Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, and Kadapa zones. He instructed officials to prioritize areas with high demand, submit weekly progress reports, and implement third-party quality checks. Furthermore, Vijayanand emphasized giving special attention to projects within the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) region, urging close coordination with district administrations for seamless field-level execution.

Kirthi Chekuri, APTRANSCO Joint Managing Director (JMD), and AKV Bhaskar, Director Grid, informed the Chief Secretary that recently commissioned works include new 220kV lines and bus reactors, which are crucial for improving system capacity. Other officials confirmed that tenders are currently being floated for the 31 upcoming projects, while the 62 ongoing works are progressing under stringent monitoring.
