"BharatBenz Unveils Product-Offensive Strategy to Dominate M&HCV Market"

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), the German truck and bus manufacturer, has announced its intention to launch an aggressive product offensive in the medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) segment this year. Amid a projected flat growth outlook for 2024, DICV aims to introduce automated manual transmission (AMT) variants as part of its strategy to elevate its competitive position.

Despite forecasts indicating stagnant volumes for the M&HCV market in 2024, DICV remains optimistic about its performance. The company plans to outshine the industry by unveiling 14 new trucks across various segments, including heavy-duty rigid, tractor-trailers, and tippers. These launches are intended to capitalize on segments where DICV experienced higher growth rates compared to the industry in the previous year.

Sreeram Venkatesawaran, President & Chief Business Officer (Domestic Sales and Customer Service) at DICV, emphasized the significance of the new product range in expanding the company's market reach. The introduction of BharatBenz powertrain-equipped rigid trucks aims to penetrate new segments such as bulk transportation and petroleum oil & lubricants transportation, where the brand has not previously been present.

DICV's focus on innovation extends to the tractor-trailer segment, where the introduction of AMT variants seeks to enhance fleet fuel efficiency. These variants, which have undergone rigorous trials and feature the globally tested Mercedes Benz AMT technology, are poised to set new standards in performance, safety, and driver comfort.

Satyakam Arya, Managing Director & CEO of DICV, highlighted the timing of the AMT variant launch, noting the market's readiness for advanced technologies that improve fleet utilization and turnaround times. He expressed confidence that this initiative would elevate the industry's technological standards and enhance customer satisfaction.

In addition to the AMT variants, DICV plans to introduce a new range of tippers featuring enhanced engine power and innovative features aimed at improving fuel efficiency and reducing maintenance costs. These offerings are expected to build on the success of the BharatBenz brand in the tipper segment, which saw remarkable growth in recent years.

DICV's impressive performance in key segments underscores its commitment to driving innovation and delivering value to customers. With a focus on cutting-edge technology and customer-centric solutions, DICV is poised to maintain its leadership position in India's commercial vehicle market.
