CM Stalin Unveils Major Fishing Infrastructure Initiatives in Southern Tamil Nadu.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin recently laid the foundation stone for fishing infrastructure projects worth over ₹600 crore in Kanniyakumari and Thoothukudi districts via video conference.

In Kanniyakumari, the initiative includes the construction of a new fishing harbour at Vaaniyakkudi with an estimated cost of ₹150 crore, alongside the expansion of the Colachel fishing harbour, also budgeted at ₹150 crore. The projects aim to enhance harbour facilities, support local fishermen, and strengthen the region’s fishing economy.

Officials said the infrastructure development would improve handling capacity, provide modern amenities, and boost the livelihoods of coastal communities in both districts.
