Crompton Greaves Bags ₹101 Crore MEDA Order for Solar Pumps Under PM KUSUM Scheme.
Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Limited (CGCEL) recently announced it has received a significant Letter of Award (LoA) from the Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (MEDA). The contract, valued at ₹100.68 crore (exclusive of GST), tasks Crompton with the comprehensive design, manufacture, supply, transport, installation, testing, and commissioning of 4,500 Off-grid Solar Photovoltaic Water Pumping Systems (SPWPS).
These solar-powered pumping systems are slated for deployment at various locations across the state of Maharashtra. The project falls under Component-B of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy's (MNRE) esteemed PM-KUSUM (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan) scheme, which aims to promote solar energy usage in the agricultural sector.
The initiative is a crucial step towards providing farmers with sustainable and reliable irrigation solutions, reducing their dependence on conventional power sources and contributing to India's broader renewable energy targets. This order solidifies Crompton Greaves' position in the clean energy and agricultural infrastructure space.
