GIPC has commissioned the final phase of its 600 MW solar project in Khavda, Gujarat..

Gujarat Industries Power Company Ltd (GIPCL) has commissioned the fifth and final phase of its solar power project at Khavda in Gujarat, bringing the total operational capacity to 600 MW.

The final phase added 135 MW of solar capacity within the 2,375 MW Renewable Energy Park at Khavda, the Vadodara-based company said in a regulatory filing recently. GIPCL is promoted by Gujarat State Fertilizers and Chemicals Ltd (GSFC), Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Ltd (GACL), and Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL).

In January 2024, GIPCL signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat government for the development of the 2,375 MW Khavda Renewable Energy Park and an additional 1,100 MW of solar projects at the same site in Gandhinagar. Subsequently, the state government allocated 4,750 hectares of land in the Khavda Hybrid Renewable Energy Park to GIPCL for the development of a 2,375 MW solar, wind, and hybrid renewable energy park.
