L&T Secures Deal to Construct Desalination Plant in Saudi Arabia.
Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has signed an agreement with ACWA Power, a leading developer in the Middle East, to construct a desalination plant in Saudi Arabia, the company announced on Thursday.
The water and effluent treatment business of L&T secured the order in partnership with Spain-based Lantania. The project encompasses design, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning of a seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant, L&T said in a statement.
Once operational, the plant will supply drinking water to the Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Al-Baha regions, benefiting nearly one million people.
This marks L&T’s second desalination project in Saudi Arabia in recent times, reinforcing its growing presence in the Middle East. The company classifies this as a "large order," indicating a contract value between ₹2,500 crore and ₹5,000 crore.
L&T, a $27 billion Indian multinational, specializes in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects, along with hi-tech manufacturing and services across global markets.
