Maruti Suzuki to Invest ₹7,410 Crore in Third Manufacturing Plant in Haryana’s Kharkhoda.

Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL), the country’s largest passenger vehicle manufacturer, has approved an investment of ₹7,410 crore to establish its third plant in Kharkhoda, Haryana. The plant will add an annual production capacity of 2.5 lakh units, bringing the facility’s total capacity to 7.5 lakh units per year by 2029.

The greenfield project follows the launch of the first plant at the Kharkhoda site, which began commercial operations in February 2025. MSIL stated that the investment will be funded through internal accruals and is aimed at meeting rising domestic and export demand.

Currently, MSIL operates four manufacturing facilities—Gurugram, Manesar, and Kharkhoda in Haryana, along with a plant in Gujarat.

In addition to the expansion, the company’s Board has approved key leadership appointments. Tapan Sahoo has been appointed as Senior Management Personnel (SMP) effective April 1. Previously serving as Head of Digital Enterprise, Information, and Cyber Security, Sahoo brings over 33 years of experience in product planning, technology, and program management. He has played a significant role in strengthening MSIL’s R&D capabilities and driving digital transformation initiatives, including AI/ML integration.

The Board has also approved the appointment of Sunil Kakkar as an Additional Director and Whole-time Director (Corporate Planning) for a three-year term starting April 1, 2025. Kakkar is the first Indian to hold this position at MSIL.
