MMRDA to seek Metro safety nod in February.

The process to begin commercial operations on the Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar (VAG) corridor of the Metro may pick up pace soon with officials looking at a February date to approach the railway safety authority for final approval.

The MMRDA expects the Research, Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO) to begin oscillation trials in a few days, said metropolitan Commissioner U P S Madan.

'The railways board has given us verbal assurance, but formal correspondence is expected in a couple of days,' Madan said. 'We hope to approach the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety by February.'
