South Korean consumer electronics giant Samsung launched its latest smartphone, the Galaxy S25 series recently. The new flagship phone will be manufactured at Samsung’s Noida plant in India, according to J B Park, President and CEO of Samsung Southwest Asia.
Samsung’s Bengaluru-based R&D center, the company’s largest outside South Korea, played a significant role in developing the Galaxy S25 series, particularly in enhancing its AI capabilities. The Galaxy S25 series, which includes the Galaxy S25 Ultra, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25, is designed to strengthen Samsung’s AI ecosystem and solidify its position in the super-premium smartphone segment, priced above $800. This segment has seen intense competition from Apple in the Indian market.
The Galaxy S25 series features a customized Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy chipset, offering enhanced on-device processing power for AI applications and an advanced camera system with Galaxy’s next-generation ProVisual technology. The Galaxy S25 Ultra boasts a 6.9-inch QHD+ display and an upgraded 50MP Ultra-Wide Camera sensor, improved from the previous 12MP. It also includes a 5,000 mAh battery, with at least 50% recycled cobalt sourced from old Galaxy devices or manufacturing waste.
“We will also manufacture the new Galaxy S25 series at our Noida plant in India,” said J B Park. “We are confident that the Galaxy S25 will outperform its predecessor, the S24 series.”
Samsung has also upgraded AI features in the Galaxy S25, such as Circle to Search, which now quickly recognizes phone numbers, emails, and URLs on the screen, enabling users to call, email, or visit websites with a single tap. Indian consumers are reportedly the largest users of Galaxy AI features, including Circle to Search and Call Assist.
TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile Experience Business at Samsung Electronics, commented: “The Galaxy S25 series opens the door to an AI-integrated OS that fundamentally changes how we use technology and live our lives.”
Samsung expects 2025 to be a breakthrough year for the Indian smartphone industry, starting with the launch of the Galaxy S25 series.
