Suzlon Shortlists Sites for 23 GW, Plans Land Banks to Drive EPC-Led Expansion.
Suzlon Energy is creating one of India’s largest pre-developed land banks, identifying more than 23 GW of renewable-energy-ready sites to anchor its long-term growth strategy. As part of this plan, the company aims to prepare land well in advance, increase the share of EPC-led projects, and speed up execution timelines for upcoming wind installations.
CEO JP Chalasani said that over 7 GW of the 23-GW pipeline is already under active development, positioning Suzlon for faster project deployment. “Our strategy now is to focus on land development in advance so that execution delays can be significantly curtailed. We have identified 23-plus gigawatts of renewable potential sites, laying a strong foundation for sustained growth. Out of this, 7-plus gigawatts of land development is underway, ensuring rapid deployment readiness,” Chalasani told investors.
Suzlon has also begun land acquisition for about 7.5 GW of potential new sites, separate from its existing 6.2-GW portfolio. “In this 7.5 GW, we have already acquired land footprint along with pathways for about 1,150 MW,” he said. While several land contracts have been signed, EPC agreements will follow at a later stage, with some of the early development funded through Suzlon’s own seed capital. A questionnaire sent to the company on the matter went unanswered.
