"Va Tech WABAG Wins $317 Million Desalination Project in Saudi Arabia"

Va Tech WABAG (WABAG), a leading global water technology company, has secured a $317 million (₹2,700 crore) contract from the Saudi Water Authority (SWA), marking another significant step in its Middle East expansion.

The contract involves the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPCC) of a 300 million liters per day (MLD) seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) desalination plant at a greenfield site in Yanbu, on Saudi Arabia's west coast.

Rohan Mittal, Head of Strategy & Business Growth – GCC at Va Tech WABAG, highlighted that this order strengthens the company’s leadership in the desalination sector, with the project expected to be completed in 30 months. The plant will use advanced desalination technology, including Dual Media Filters, a two-pass reverse osmosis system, and re-mineralization, to produce potable water that meets Saudi Arabia’s environmental standards. The SWA will manage water distribution from the facility.
