Visakhapatnam Emerges as Data Centre Hub, With Job Creation and Housing Growth on the Horizon.

Visakhapatnam is emerging as one of India’s key digital infrastructure hubs, with its expanding data centre ecosystem expected to generate more than 51,800 jobs and drive demand for around 2.33 crore sq. ft. of residential real estate, according to a new report by Square Yards titled “How India’s Data Centre Revolution Is Rewriting Real Estate.”

The proposed data centre projects in Visakhapatnam are projected to create 51,840 employment opportunities, including 3,240 direct jobs and 48,600 jobs across allied sectors such as construction, electrical services, logistics, warehousing, transportation, hospitality, retail, maintenance and other support services, the report released on Thursday said.

The report noted that the impact of data centre development will extend beyond the facilities themselves, as these projects are expected to drive the growth of a wider ecosystem of businesses and services.

Investments in supporting infrastructure, including power supply, fibre connectivity, utilities, logistics networks and commercial facilities, are likely to increase alongside data centre expansion. This ecosystem-led growth is expected to generate additional employment opportunities and accelerate economic activity across the region.

With rising demand for digital infrastructure, Visakhapatnam is positioned to attract further investments and strengthen its role in India’s data economy.
