Saudi's Nesma agrees EPC JV with Argentine firm.
Saudi contractor Nesma & Partners has set up a joint venture with Argentinian construction firm Tecna that will enable it to bid for large-scale engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts.
CEO Imad Gholmieh told Construction Week that it had established the partnership to bid for work in the oil & gas sector - an area in which Tecna is a specialist, having carried out refinery projects for firms such as Petrobas and Total.
Gholmieh had said in an interview last October that the company was seeking a joint venture to bid for EPC work.
Nesma & Partners currently has a backlog worth around $4bn, Gholmieh said, and it has secured three major contracts in the first six months of 2012 worth a combined $2.6bn.
