Sitapur National highway to Ayodhya road in 20 mins soon; New flyover to benefit 1.5 lakh commuters daily.

Commuters in the region can soon enjoy faster and smoother travel with the upcoming completion of a four-lane flyover connecting Indiranagar’s Sector-19 to the Khurramnagar crossing. The Rs 150-crore project, expected to be completed by December, aims to alleviate congestion along the busy Polytechnic Crossing-Kursi Road corridor and is set to benefit approximately 1.5 lakh vehicles daily.

The 1.36-km flyover, which began construction in 2021, will streamline traffic through areas like Indiranagar, Vikasnagar, and Jankipuram, drastically reducing travel time between Ayodhya Road and Sitapur highway to just 20 minutes. This significant improvement promises to save commuters valuable time.

While the project faced delays due to the high traffic volume in the area, Diwakar Tripathi, a representative of Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and supervisor of the flyover’s construction, emphasized that efforts were being made to expedite the process. "The route is so busy that the time available for work was limited. But we've worked to ensure timely completion," Tripathi said. He added that one lane from the Jagrani side is nearly finished, with the remaining work set for completion by December.

Safety features such as streetlights, view cutters, and reflector strips have already been installed, with final touches including drainage systems and service road improvements underway. A senior PWD official confirmed that once the work on the Kukrail river flyover is completed, the ministry of transport will finalize the inauguration date.

The new flyover is expected to be a major relief for daily commuters like Sunil Gupta from Chinhat, who sees it as a solution to frequent traffic jams. Similarly, Neha Patel from Kursi Road expressed excitement, saying, "With this, I can reach my office on time without worrying about delays." However, taxi operator Manoj Singh pointed out the need to remove safety hazards on nearby roads, such as electricity poles, to ensure complete safety.

The official inauguration, likely to be attended by Rajnath Singh, is expected to be a significant milestone for the city.
