"Tamara Leisure Experiences to Expand, Emphasizing Spiritual Tourism"

Tamara Leisure Experiences has unveiled its ambitious expansion plans and sustainability initiatives, underscoring its steadfast commitment to responsible tourism practices.

With a keen focus on spiritual tourism, the company is rolling out its budget-friendly hotel brand, Lilac, across various religious destinations in South India. The latest addition to its portfolio is the Lilac Hotel in Guruvayur, marking the group's third launch in Kerala. Notably, Tamara had recently inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) worth ₹250 crore with the Kerala Government during the Tourism Investors Meet to bolster its presence in the state.

Expanding its repertoire, the group has introduced an array of upscale and leisure properties across South India, including O by Tamara Coimbatore, O by Tamara Thiruvananthapuram, and leisure resorts such as The Tamara Coorg and The Tamara Kodai. Additionally, the group operates Amal Tamara, a NABH-certified Ayurvedic hospital, and two Lilac hotels in Bangalore.

Currently boasting eight operational properties, Tamara Leisure Experiences has two upcoming projects slated for Kumbakonam and Velankanni in Tamil Nadu, along with Kannur and Alappuzha in Kerala. Shruti Shibulal, CEO and Director of Tamara Leisure Experiences, expressed excitement about the group's expansion into North India, with Bodh Gaya marked as a significant destination.

Shibulal emphasized the company's commitment to sustainability, integrating eco-friendly practices throughout its properties, including energy-efficient designs, renewable energy sources, responsible waste management, and environmentally-conscious construction practices.

Taking inspiration from Bhutan's eco-tourism model, Tamara has acquired land in Paro, Bhutan, aligning with its ethos of prioritizing high-value, low-volume tourism for ecological preservation. With a burgeoning portfolio encompassing 618 keys across four properties in Germany—Moxy Bremen, Courtyard by Marriott, Prizeotel, and Holiday Inn Express—Tamara's national and international footprint is poised to reach 1,164 keys by the end of FY2023.
