Adani Green to Invest ₹2 Lakh Crore in Expansion by 2030
Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) will invest an estimated ₹2 lakh crore to increase its renewable energy capacity over the next seven years, Executive Director Sagar Adani announced on Tuesday.
This investment aims to expand AGEL's renewable energy capacity from 10.9 GW to 50 GW by 2030, with 80% dedicated to solar and the remaining to wind. Adani shared these plans during a media briefing at Adani Shantigram near Ahmedabad.
“We do not need any more equity. The peak debt requirement will be $6 billion by 2030, with debt drawing lines for the same amount,” Adani added. A significant portion of this investment will focus on Khavda in the Kutch district of Gujarat, where 30 GW of solar and hybrid projects are already under construction.
AGEL also has ample land for these projects. “While we are planning 50 GW projects, we have a land bank to set up even 70 GW projects,” said Amit Kumar Singh, CEO of AGEL. The company is also planning to invest in three pump storage projects with a combined capacity of 5 GW in South India by 2030, including Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu.
Additionally, Sagar Adani noted that AGEL is developing a 3 MW wind turbine generator, adding to the 5.2 MW currently produced at its Mundra facility. “Initially, the manufacturing capacity for 3 MW windmills may be 1,000 MW but could be scaled up if required,” he said.
