"Cabinet Greenlights Infrastructure Projects in Bihar and Tripura; Approves Mobility Pact with Italy"
In a series of significant decisions, the Cabinet, on Wednesday, granted approval to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) proposal to sign and ratify the migration and mobility agreement between India and Italy. Concurrently, the Cabinet Committee for Economic Affairs (CCEA) gave its nod to crucial infrastructure projects in Tripura and Bihar.
The migration and mobility agreement between India and Italy, approved by the Cabinet, marks a step towards fostering bilateral relations and facilitating smoother migration and mobility processes between the two nations.
Meanwhile, the CCEA sanctioned a major project for the improvement and widening of roads to two lanes, incorporating paved shouldering, spanning from Khowai to Harina on National Highway 208 in Tripura. This project, covering a total length of 134.9 km, requires an investment of ₹2,486.78 crore, including a loan component of ₹1,511.70 crore.
In Bihar, the CCEA greenlit a proposal for the construction of a new 4556 m long, 6-lane high-level, extra-dosed cable-stayed bridge across River Ganga and its approaches on both sides in the Districts of Patna and Saran (NH-139W) on the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) mode. The total cost for this infrastructure project is estimated at ₹3,064.45 crore, encompassing a civil construction cost of ₹2,233.81 crore.
These decisions underscore the government's commitment to enhancing connectivity, fostering economic development, and strengthening diplomatic ties, marking significant strides in both domestic infrastructure development and international relations.
