MoU to develop skills in IoT sector.

A centre for skill development in the Internet of Things (IoT) sector has been set up by the Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC), The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) and India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA ).

With an aim to providing world-class skills and certified manpower to support roll-out, proliferation and maintenance of the IoT deployments, with a focus on semi-urban and rural segments, the IoT centre at Bengaluru will have IoT related vocational training courses.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between the parties and is expected to achieve a common goal of skilling India in the IoT domain. TiE, IESA and TSSC training partners are to synergise their efforts and conduct approved courses, resulting in improved proliferation of IoT courses in India.

The TSSC is a not-for-profit between the NSDC and the telecom industry. It aims to skill and certify 45 lakh personnel in 150 trades, train 24,000 trainers, accredit 500 training organisations and cover the whole country progressively over a period of 10 years.

The digital economy is converging its multi-disciplinary facets of IT, hardware, big data and connectivity with the IoT. SP Kochhar, CEO, Telecom Sector Skill Council said the TSSC’s main aim for the next five years is to train approximately 86.7 lakh people which will be beneficial for the telecom industry’s growth. Stating that IoTholds huge potential in semi-urban and rural sectors,he said it provides for real time monitoring of parameters in rural areas related to reservoir levels, power, weather, sanitation etc.
